Stand-Alone Instrumentation System

The Huron is more than a data-acquisition and control system. This fully functional instrumentation system on a board has the following features:

Analog Inputs

  8 differential and 6 single-ended input channels

  ±  4 mV to ±  4 V in programmable decade gain ranges

  High-current built-in bridge supply, for 2, 3 or 4-wire connections

Processing of acquired data into your choice of units

Built-in data processing for the following sensors:

bullet

 J and K-type thermocouples

bullet

RTDs (100W and 1 kW Platinum)

bullet

 Bridge-based pressure and force sensors

bullet

 Magnetic-vane or switch-closure flow sensors

bullet

 ADI AD22100 silicon temperature sensors

Processing library routines downloadable for other sensors

  Simple one or two-point calibration

Calibration parameters downloadable through serial port

  Built-in milliohmmeter

  12-bit converter resolution

Digital I/O

16 input and 16 output bit-lines with serial bus extension; 8 of each on-board

2 flow sensor inputs count to 200 Hz

Frequency counter input measures to 500 kHz with 16-bit resolution

  2 programmable pulse-width, single-shot outputs

2 PCM outputs directly drive PCM servomotors

  SPDT, 3 A relay output

Channel-Scanning Schedules

Total scan rates of all channels: 200 Hz

Regular sampling intervals for all channels at programmable rates

Data Recorder & Telemetry

Records telemetered channels. Plays back frames of time-stamped and  processed data

ERASE, RECORD on/off, and PLAYBACK functions work like tape recorder

Recording time to full memory and percentage of memory left commands

32 kbytes of recorder memory for capturing transient events, capture 16,384 channel samples

Telemetry sends database of selected channels over serial port while turned on

Clock

Real-time clock sets and runs with 0.1 second resolution

User Interface

Reliable IMPEL operating-system/language interprets from a list of user commands

Libraries of transducer types and application programs compile to extend functional capability

Power and software fault restart options for reliable recovery and operation

Network up to 8 Hurons with RS-485 option

  RS-232 or RS-485 serial-port options
