E-Literature

E-literature comes in digital form, either as a diskette, CD, or email file transfer. All e-books are formatted in HTML as webs, and are accessible with a web browser. E-literature can include HTML pages and webs, image (JPEG, GIF) files, MathCAD programs, text files (for software source code), and audio files. Prices for diskettes and CDs do not include mailing. Emailed file transfer is not charged.

Analog Circuit Design Series

- a revised and expanded multi-volume edition of the Handbook of Analog Circuit Design by Dennis Feucht, published originally in 1990 by Academic Press, and streamlined as a four-volume set on CD,  for $60 plus $5 shipping in North America.

Amplifier Circuits

Presents the basic principles of transistor circuit analysis, basic per-stage building blocks, and feedback. Presentation is restricted to quasi-static (low-frequency) considerations, to emphasize basic topological principles. Prepares the reader to analyze and design multi-stage amplifiers with feedback, including calculation and specification of gain, input and output resistances, including the effects of transistor output resistance, ro.

Dynamic Circuit Response

Presents transient and frequency response analysis methods, with emphasis upon complex-frequency techniques; dynamic design methods for compensation of amplifier response, and impedance transformations of active devices above their bandwidths, an important but little-known topic. Prepares the reader to perform frequency-dependent analysis and design, including high-frequency effects on input and output impedances and response compensation.

High-Performance Amplifiers

Applying the concepts developed in the previous two volumes, this advanced treatment of amplifier design/analysis emphasizes both wideband and precision amplification. Topics include bandwidth extension, noise and distortion, effects of components, instrumentation and isolation amplifiers, autocalibration, thermal effects, current-feedback amplifiers, multi-path schemes, feedforward, fT multipliers, buffers, voltage translators, Gilbert gain cells and multipliers.

Signal-Processing Circuits

Presents a variety of analog non-amplifier circuits, including voltage references, current sources, filters, hysteresis switches and oscilloscope trigger and sweep circuitry, function generation, absolute-value circuits, and peak detectors. Digitizing (ADCs and DACs) and sampling (including some switched-capacitor) circuits are explained, with theory required for design. Sampling theory is developed from both a frequency and time-domain viewpoint, with emphasis upon application to design.

Switched Power Circuits

Presents the basic inductor current switch model, three basic converter configurations, Cuk, SEPIC and zeta configurations, current and voltage control and design for dynamic response, component modeling, power drivers (H-bridges, etc.) and circuits with design considerations, power-factor correction, inductor and transformer design, resonant (ZVS, ZCS) techniques, multi-phase conversion, voltage positioning, power-line model, and more. Gives reader basic design skills and MathCAD programs for the design and analysis of switching converters, with examples of working converters.

Motor Control

Presents basic theory of motors from a circuits-design viewpoint, power-driver circuit design, and motor magnitude and phase control, including vector (or field-oriented) control of PM synchronous and induction motors, winding-sensed ("sensorless") start-up and control techniques, solenoid, VR, and step-motor control, microcontroller and DSP algorithms, motion control, electrical modeling of mechanics, and more. Prepares reader to begin analysis and design of electromechanical systems. MathCAD programs included.

Magnetics Design

Design your own magnetics for switching converters!

This suite of MathCAD programs comes with explanations and background theory on diskette. You fill in numbers for the highlighted quantities, select core and wire types, and iterate until the design is optimized to your satisfaction. The program maximizes primary-to-secondary-winding power transfer and calculates primary and secondary winding-window areas to maintain uniform winding loss in the window. Price: $20, includes shipping in North America.

Fundamentals of Rocketry

This digital book covers the basic theory of flight dynamics, propulsion, structural design, rocket electronics, mission planning, and more. It develops the basic formulas of flight, rocket engine design, instrumentation and control, assuming only a knowledge of high-school mathematics. The basic principles of flight mechanics, structural mechanics, and thermodynamics are presented. This book equips the reader to engage in rocket activity at an amateur or low-end commercial level, and in design and development of liquid-propellant launch vehicles and missions. Hundreds of illustrations and equations; 4.5 megabytes. Price: $15 as an email attachment; $20 on CD, plus $5 shipping in North America.
